Descripción:	Violence within a family can affect any family circle without distinction regarding age, sex, economic level or level of education. Minors, due to their physical, economic, social and affective dependence, form the most vulnerable population to suffer abuse that threatens their physical, mental and social integrity, repetitive aggression by one or more adults in charge of the child , such as neglect, beatings, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and even death. This entity has been called Battered Child Syndrome, and it has grown to such a degree that it constitutes a serious form of child abuse that not only involves the area of ??pediatric medicine, but also legal medicine. La violencia dentro de una familia puede afectar a cualquier círculo familiar sin distinción respecto a edad, sexo, nivel económico o grado de educación. Los menores de edad, por su dependencia física, económica, social y afectiva, forman la población más vulnerable a padecer abusos que atenten a su integridad física, mental y social, agresiones de tipo repetitivo por parte de uno o más adultos a cargo del niño, como son la negligencia, los golpes, el abuso sexual, el maltrato emocional e inclusive la muerte. A esta entidad se le ha denominado Síndrome del niño maltratado, y ha crecido a tal grado que constituye un forma grave de maltrato infantil que no sólo involucra al área de la medicina pediátrica, sino a medicina legal.
