dc.descriptionThis paper argues that geography, from its prelude as a science, is a political knowledge. This work reviews political geography’s historical background and the variety of studies that emerged from it in the first half of the 20th century. It also analyzes the discourse of European and American imperialism, which linked political geography to geopolitics – as well as those that did not. The last section proposes using the concept of space to assess geographical science.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el texto se analiza cómo la geografía desde su preludio como ciencia fue un saber político. Se explican los antecedentes históricos de la geografía política y la variedad de estudios que surgieron de ella desde principios del siglo XX hasta la mitad del mismo. Se analizan tanto las disertaciones que se identificaron con el imperialismo europeo y norteamericano –mismas que llevaron a que se homologara esta ciencia con la geopolítica– como aquellas lecturas que no lo hicieron. Asimismo, se elabora una propuesta para el estudio de la geografía a partir de la categoría espacio.  es-ES
