Abstract: Depolarization of quantum fields is handled through a master equation of the Lindblad type. The specific feature of the model is that it couples the field modes to a randomly distributed atomic bath dispersively. The depolarizing dynamics emerging from this approach is analyzed for relevant states. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
