Resumen: Regulation theory is used to address the synchronization phenomena of chaotic systems. Our results are based on the solution of the Francis-Isidori-Byrnes equations to derive the synchronization submanifold. Thus conditions for complete or partial synchronization are depicted. This analysis is not restrictive with respect to the master and the slave systems' dimensions, therefore it can be applied to strictly different systems with the same order or even different-order systems. Finally, workbench examples are presented to illustrate the results. © 2009 IOP Publishing Ltd.
