Abstract: An attempt is made to show that the interaction of an arbitrary quantum system with a rapidly decaying quantized field model leads to an effective dissipation in that system. In this case, the antirotating part of the system-field Hamiltonian gives rise to a thermal-like term in the effective master equation. Contrary to the situation with the nonrotating-wave master equation, the effective master equation describing evolution of a system coupled to a rapidly decaying field mode has the Lindblad form.
