Title: Nano and micro reoriented domains and their relation with the crystal structure in the new ferroelectric boracite Zn3B7O 13Br

Abstract: A Raman spectroscopic study was performed to detect the surface roughness of a cadmium telluride (CdTe) wafer sample, using the 514.5, 632.8 and 830.0 nm excitations wavelengths. To verify the relation between the roughness and the structure of Raman spectra, in certain zones of the sample, we measured their roughness with an atomic force microscopy. It was found that, using the 830 nm wavelength there is a direct correspondence between the spectrum structure and the surface roughness. For the others wavelengths it was found, however, that there is not a clearly correspondence between them. Our results suggest that, using the excitation wavelength of 830 nm the Raman spectroscopy can be used as an on-line roughness monitor on the CdTe growth. " 2005 Elsevier B.V. Thereafter, all groups were assayed for protection against maximal electroshock (MES) and pentylenetetrazole (METsc) seizure inducing tests at hourly intervals throughout 8 h. For MES, a maximal protection of 70% at the 2nd and 4th h with 10 mg/kg AQ and 100 mg/kg E-OH doses, occurred. That of Phen, Phb and Pg was 80, 90 and 10% at the 8th, 6th and 2nd h, respectively. The averaged values of the MES unprotected rats under 10 and 100 mg/kg of AQ and E-OH extracts, showed that a shortened reflex duration as well as a delayed latency and uprising times occurred. On the other hand, just an enlarged latency and no protection against METsc device in AQ and EOH was observed. Phen and Phb maximal protection was 80 and 100% at the 4th and 6th hour against METsc. The crystal structure was characterized by Rietveld refinement. Ferroelectric nano and micro reorientable domains were found in this material using polarizing optical microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Chemical analysis was performed with x-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX). In the crystal, a new structure transition at 586 K from orthorhombic (Pca 21) to cubic cell () has been found. This transition was corroborated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). " 2006 IOP Publishing Ltd.
