Abstract: We genotyped at least 12 Y-STRs in DNA samples of 986 Mestizos from five states: Aguascalientes (n = 293), Jalisco (n = 185), Guanajuato (n = 168), Chiapas (n = 170), and Yucatán (n = 170). Powerplex-Y and AmpF?STR Y-filer kits were employed, offering a minimum haplotype diversity of 99.69% and 99.88%, respectively. The inclusion of additional Y-STR databases to the analyses allowed obtaining a Y-STR variability landscape from Mexico. Genetic relatedness and preliminary admixture estimates confirmed a population differentiation gradient throughout the Mexican territory: the European ancestry increments to the Northwest and, correspondingly, the Amerindian ancestry increments to the Southeast. These results must be considered for human identification purposes given that most states in Mexico do not have a proper Y-STR database. " 2009 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of rituximab in the management of refractory immune thrombocytopenic purpura. four women with immune thrombocytopenic purpura unresponsiveness to standard therapy were evaluated in relation to clinical response and total platelets counts at different time intervals after rituximab administration. All four patients developed petechiae; two of them associated with ecchymosis, one with hematemesis and one more with transvaginal bleeding. The mean baseline platelet count was 5350/?L; in the 60th day after the first dose of rituximab the average was 175 250/?L. Complete remission was considered in three patients. rituximab is a therapeutic option for refractory inmune thrombocytopenic purpura. Nevertheless, more studies are needed to evaluate its efficacy and safety.",,,,,,,,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/38886","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84866793677&partnerID=40&md5=27c34a8ba5b549301accdee94a2272cd

The cost calculation was done considering nine groups: bed days, specialty consultation, laboratory, X-rays, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, anterior surgery, posterior surgery, anterior and posterior surgery. The micro costing technique was used and the mean cost per patient was obtained. 41% of patients had injury at C4-C5; mean age was 36 years; total cost was $8,622,793.00 mexican pesos, and the mean cost in patients who survived was $2,536,115.59 mexican pesos, which represented 29.4% of the total cost; the cost for the patients who died was $6,086,677.41 mexican pesos (70.6%). The percent distribution of the different components analyzed clearly shows that 51% of the total cost corresponded to hospitalization. The estimated annual cost of caring for these patients is $2,155,905.70 Mexican pesos, with an annual increase of $819,905.53 Mexican pesos. The major cost was hospitalization, so specific clinical management guidelines should be used to optimize economic resources and prevent complications that may increase the costs.",,,,,,,,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/38877","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84874416880&partnerID=40&md5=67a6cfd8c7eab4189481fdbb10941ec5
